Tomorrow's the first day of June. School's almost over, which means we're almost going to graduate from middle school. I can't wait for summer vacation. I wonder how hard it is to get a job.
I helped my dad with his business's network problems today. Extremely detailed information for people who actually care is as follows.
Symptoms:
Slow Internet access, often unable to view web pages
Email receiving from Microsoft Exchange Server often fails
Printing sometimes fails
Software which relies on files located on file server is slow
Tests:
Pinging devices on network often results in 50% loss of packets
Most likely issue:
Router is faulty
Action taken:
Purchased Linksys WRT54GL router as replacement (no DD-WRT! :O)
Set up Business DSL's static IP in router
New symptoms:
Devices on 5 port network switch attached to router are not detected
Said devies are not assigned an IP address
Action taken:
Changed cable between router and switch
Success?
NO WAI!
Therefore...
Going to purchase network switch later on; stores closed already
Profit:
60 dollars! ($20 an hour)
So if anyone has any computer problems, you can just ask me.
